Faithfully Moving Forward

Your path led through the sea, your way through the mighty waters, though your footprints were not seen. ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭77:19‬ ‭NIV‬‬

We are going to go through some very difficult things in our lives. Just because we have accepted God as our personal savior does not mean that we are exempt from the suffering of the world. God knows what this world is like and how heavy it can weigh on us, but he is with us through our trials.

One of my favorite sayings is about footprints in the sand. When we look back behind us and only see one set of footprints, our mind tells us that God has forsaken us. However, if we listen closely, God is really whispering to us that He is here, carrying us through the storm.

God is in the storm with us. Every. Single. Time. He does not leave us to fend for ourselves or walk away because He has given up. He stays and picks us up off the ground to carry us through our battles. Although we may feel lost or defeated, God knows that the victory lies within Him. And when we are with God, that victory belongs to us too. All we have to do is be obedient to Him, trusting that He knows the way, while faithfully walking forward.

I have been feeling like I’m lost in a never-ending storm myself lately. I don’t know what will come next or what my next move will be. I’m conflicted and frustrated and slightly angry at my circumstances. But I can’t control what’s happening and I certainly can’t control what will happen. All I can do is trust that God knows, that He is here with me, and that He will carry me through. I don’t have all the answers. In fact, it feels as if I have none. But I know that God does. And because I know that He knows, I can faithfully move forward without fear.

The battle that we feel has drained us of solutions or answers, leaving us feeling worn out and weary, won’t keep us down. Although we may feel as if there is no way through or way to win, we can rest in the truth that God’s got it. We don’t even have to walk ourselves forward, we can rest in God’s arms and let Him carry us. All that matters is that we are moving forward in faith.
